- Weekly War Journal. New York City world headlines: Berlin is burning from bombs and fighters. Nazis failed an attempt to cross the Rhine. The Luedendorf Bridge is a loss after bombing and shelling by the Nazis. Allies still have their own bridge. Nazi's killed four men for failing to destroy the bridge before the American's crossing. General Patton has won control of a stretch of the Rhine near Koblenz. The 7th Army has passed Saarbrücken. In Japan school children, except first graders, will be put into wall work starting April 1st to bolster output of munitions. American carrier planes are attacking Japan. -- Rome: Correspondent is accompanying the 321st bombing group of the 12 Air Force in a B-25 over Brenner Pass. He is accompanying Richard "Rosey" Rosenthal, Minneapolis, Minnesota and Charlie Wilson, Fort Worth, Texas on a military movement because Hitler's troops are in Brenner Pass. -- Washington, D.C.: The Germans have been starting peace rumors. No peace discussions will be permitted. Only unconditional surrender. Differences remain over the Russian problem in Romania. DIfferences remain between Britain and Russia about what to do about Poland. The San Francisco Conference will now take six weeks in order to work out the United Nations Charter. -- Paris: The French Communist Party has become more active. DeGaulle is part of the chaos. Democracy is administering, but not governing, France. The meat shortage is France is severe. Review of who is or is not a traitor. [Recording ends]
