- Ceremony opening Burma Road. Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek gives a speech in Chinese and then it is interpreted into English. He thanks the Allied Forces and the Chinese forces. He lists the difficulties in achieving this engineering feat. He assures the Chinese people in occupied territories that victory is on the way. He warns Japan that "no enemy is invincible and no difficulty is insurmountable. Requests the road be named after General Stilwell for his contributions. Asks that the soldiers of the Allied Forces and the Chinese Forces fight on together. Then General Wedemeyer speaks about China's latest successful pursuits against the enemies and thanks General Chiang Kai-shek, General Stilwell, Daniel Sultan, Sun Li-jen, and Wei Lihuang. Expresses the need for a free and open seaport in order to have an uninterrupted flow of supplies [Recording ends.]
