Summary
Weekly war journal: The Russians are pushing the Germans out of the east. Allied bombers continue to attack German North Africa. American bombers attack Burma to support the British ground advance there. President Roosevelt says that "We will win the war." Bill Hillman reports from Washington D.C., the Germans have tried to divide the Americans and British. John MacVain reports from Algiers about Allied attacks on Axis bases. The march of time: An official of the government of Malta reports about the continuous Axis bombs falling on that island. Lieutenant Commander Dudley W. Morton (of the submarine "Wahoo") is interviewed by Bernard Clayton and tells how he sank a Japanese destroyer and several Japanese merchant ships. A feature about eating horsemeat is presented, including an interview with the owners of "The Whirlaway Horsemeat Market Of New Jersey." Lucius Beebe gives his recipe for "Filet of Foal," a recipe for horsemeat. The last written words of Alexander Woollcott are read; Senator John Bankhead (of Alabama) speaks from Washington, D.C. about manpower needs for the armed forces and for agriculture
