- Weekly War Journal. Headlines: Russian tanks are moving into Frankfort. Fierce fighting at Kostrzyn, East Prussia. Russia is pushing toward Szczecin, East Prussia. General Patton's army is five miles inside Germany. British night air raids bombed German synthetic oil plants in two cities. Army plane crash in Italy has killed 23 service passengers; three of them nurses. In the Pacific, the Japanese island of Honshu has been hit by about 100 Superfortresses. American troops are entering Manila, Philippines. -- Paris: There is a paper shortage in France, therefore newspapers suffer. Lack of fuel and food also. There is ill-will against America in France because De Gaulle has been excluded from the coming Big Three meeting. De Gaulle has criticized the O.W.I. (Office of War Information). Mentions Harry Hopkins and Paul McNutt. -- Washington D.C.: Russia, the United States and Britain have been discussing surrender and armistice terms for Germany. European Advisory Commission is involved. -- London: What to do with Germany after it surrenders. Could America be focusing on Germany to draw attention away from our actions in Holland, Belgium, Greece, and Yugoslavia where we are trying to impose a stand still government and causing strikes and civil war? These countries want to include trade unions, socialist parties, and communist parties. -- Western Front American First Army in Germany: Advances are being made toward the Siegfried Offensive in the city of Monshau, Germany. Being lead by the second and ninth divisions who were at one point within three-quarters of a mile of Schleiden, Germany. A Lieutenant Slain from St. James, Missouri gets a surprise leave back to the States while the reporter is there on the front. Washington D.C.: A new treaty with Mexico about the disposition of water, The Rio Grande, the Colorado, and the Tijuana rivers, is being debated in Congress. -- Philippines: The Japanese will strongly defend Manila. General Richard K. Sutherland gave the reporter an update just before the broadcast. The Japanese have heavily mined the last few miles of Highway 3 into Manila. There are only guesses about how many Japanese troops are in Manila. [Recording ends.]
- Danny Kaye Show. Comedy skit: Danny arrives back in California with a baby from Washington D.C. -- beginning of King Danny of Brooklyn tries to rescue the mortgage on Ebbets Field [Recording ends.]
