  • News. The 5th Army has captured the road junction at Fondi, Italy. The German's front line is at Terracina. The Allies front line is at Anzio beachhead. Another Allied group has moved into Sperlonga, Italy. The 8th Army has attacked their main defenses in the Liri Valley. British 8th Air Force has bombed air fields, rail lines and anti-aircraft installations in Germany. 750 Thunderbolts, Lightnings, and Mustangs were in the fight. American Air Force bombed the northern coral islands and other islands in the central Pacific. Mountbatten reports that American and Chinese troops have fought their way through Myitkyina, Burma. The Japanese bases of Kamaing and Mogaung are now completely isolated
