Summary
  • March of time. [Recording ends]. A United States 9th American Air Force P-47 Thunderbolt fighter pilot and a British 6th Airborne Glider pilot and paratrooper recall the invasion of the coast of France. Lieutenant Peter Cattle, Yorkshire, England, and Lieutenant John Thompson, Waxahachie, Texas share their experiences during the allied invasion of the French coast. The German 14th Army has been driven out of Rome, Italy. Major Harold E. Miller, army ground forces observer, 88th Infantry Division, tells his experiences of driving the Nazis out of Rome. The Germans can only get back into the fight if they regroup their offenses at the Arno River Line from Pisa to Rimini or broad Po River valley. A new popular song to come out of the war is, "Tilly, Tilly. It's not far from Piccadilly" by Rufus "Bill" McConochie. Colonel Arthur Trudeau, United States Army, tells of allied reconnaissance before the D-Day invasion. Military communiqués tell the story of the war. A dramatic reenactment of Captain Williams J. Adams experience with military gliders on the Cherbourg coast. [Recording ends.]
