Summary
The march of time: The story of Tommy Cook, a copy boy at the New York Daily Mirror, who joined the Marine Corps and fought at Guadalcanal. Major General Levin H. Campbell of the Ordnance Department is interviewed in Washington, D.C. by Perry Culley. Germans report withdrawals to escape encirclement in Russia, two large Japanese transports were sunk in New Guinea, and Congress has let it be known that they will not be forced into legislation by the president. Senator Harry Byrd speaks from Washington D.C. and clarifies the stance of the 78th Congress that they wish to make winning the war the top priority, cut redundant government employees, and alleviate the large tax burden on the American public
