- Fitch bandwagon. [Recording already in progress] A flirtatious woman is telling Dick Powell what a good detective he is. He asks her is she has seen his movie, Murder, My Sweet. Andy Devine and Dick Powell run a comedy routine with Dick as the straight man. War news: 1st Army is within 15 miles of Cologne, Germany. Multi-pronged offensive on the east side of the Rhine River have made a 4 mile gain. 9th Army is pushing forward on the Bulge's 25 miles front. 45 Nazi towns have been captured by the Allies in 3 days. Patton's 3rd Army is in the south and has also made gains within 6 miles of Bitberg. Live bombing of Berlin by the Allies. On the Eastern Front a new offensive has been opened by splitting Pomerania. America blasted the capital of Tokyo, [Japan], near the Emperor's palace grounds. Tokyo is on fire. The Marines have made progress in Iwo Jima. Navy Secretary Forestal reports that the Japanese are losing four casualties to our one. Manila is captured. American's have stepped up their efforts in Luzon. 1st Calvary Division captured San Isidro and Montalban. There are air attacks at San Juan Bay below Manila. In the north, other troops are making progress toward the Philippine capital through Baguio. Guy Lombardo's band has been voted America's most popular dance band by the editors for the 14th consecutive year. Dick Powell will travel to premier his new movie: Murder, My Sweet
- Stop or go. Joe E. Brown begins with a comedic monologue. The first contestant, Miss Ruth Lee, from Texas, is asked to describe each of 6 famous people as either a "Rich man, poor man, beggar man or thief." Jeter Lester in Tobacco Road, poor man. Andrew Carnegie, rich man. Ronald Coleman in Kismet, beggar man. Jesse James, thief. Rudy Vallée in Palm Beach Story, rich man. Todd Jones in Grapes of Wrath, poor man. She wins. The second contestant, Private Robert Brown of the United States Army, Clinton, Maine, is asked the titles of six songs by Irving Berlin. Blue Skies (with help and hints). Alexander's Ragtime Band. No guess. It was Russian Lullaby. He loses. 3rd contestant: Mrs. Diana Howells from Columbus, Ohio. She's asked to guess stage characters by a description of the character's costume: Robin Hood. Hamlet (with husband's help). The Man Who Came to Dinner. Little Eva from Uncle Tom's Cabin. [Recording ends]
