  • "The Baviad; a paraphrastic imitation of the first Satire of Persius" (caption title, p.[3]) is a satire on a band of expatriate writers in Italy, the Della Cruscans, which included Mrs. Piozzi, B. Greatheed, R. Merry, Wm Parsons, Hanna Cowley; it appeared in 1791, followed by the Mæviad, in 1795, directed against the Della Cruscans and contemporary drama. John Bell published the works of the Della Cruscans in his newspapers (World, Oracle, Morning post) and is attacked
  • "Proceedings on the trial of Robert Faulder, bookseller (...against whom actions were brought for selling the Baviad,) for publishing a libel on John Williams, alias Anthony Pasquin, Esq.": p.[129]-179. -- "Epistle to Peter Pindar": p.181-191 (verse pillorying Pindar for same reasons as Pasquin)
