Summary
This study investigated one hypothesis generated from Jung's theory of personality. This study examined the relationship between five independent variables to three dependent variables in order to examine Jung's attitude types of extroversion and introversion. Participants consisted of five hundred adult men and women across the United States who were previously assessed at a major consulting firm in Kansas City, Missouri. Each participant was previously assessed with the Allport Study of Values, the Firo-B, the Schubert General Ability Intelligence Battery, the 16 Personality Factor Questionnaire, and the Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis test instruments. The predictor variables were the Allport Study of Values Social Scale, the Firo-B Expressed and Wanted Inclusion Scales, the Schubert General Ability Intelligence Battery, and the Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis Active/Social-Quiet and Expressive/Responsive-Inhibited Scales. The criterion variables were the 16PF A (Extroversion/Introversion) Scale. The 16PF F (Enthusiastic/Sober) Scale, and the 16PF H (Uninhibited/Shy) Scale. A canonical correlation analysis was conducted to examine the relationships between the predictor variables and the criterion variables. The canonical correlation results yielded a Wilks Lambda multivariate test that was statistically significant (Wilks Lambda = .527) at p < .01. Roots one and two accounted for 98% of the variance between the dependent canonical coefficient variables and independent canonical coefficient variables; statistical significance was achieved at the .01 level. As expected the analysis derived composites of weighted variables from both the predictor side and the criterion side that relate to each other. However, the derived composites did not support the hypothesis
