Summary
The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the marginal integrity of CEREC3 crown restorations using clinical and SEM evaluations and to concordance between the two evaluation methods. Sixteen extracted molars were randomly assigned to two groups. Group A and B had a shoulder of 1.2-1.5mm and a chamfer of 1.0mm deep, respectively. CEREC3 was used to fabricate all ceramic crowns for the prepared teeth. Two clinicians evaluated the margins using a semi-qualitative ranking. SEM was used to measure the marginal gap size. Mann Whitney and Fisher Chi-square analyses were used to analyze the clinical data. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups with either analysis. An independent t-test and fisher Chi-square were used to analyze the SEM data. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. Using a two-by-two contingency table, there was an agreement of 81.2% between the two evaluating methods
