- Summary
- "Health systems worldwide are under increasing pressure to deliver services in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Telehealth, or the delivery of health services at a distance, has an important role to play in achieving this. Communication technologies are becoming more readily accessible and affordable, and an array of telehealth applications are emerging which have potential benefits for patients and clinicians, particularly in areas where health services are traditionally limited, non-existent or difficult to access. This book presents papers selected from contributions to the 2nd International Conference on Global Telehealth, held in Sydney, Australia, in November 2012. The theme of the conference was delivering quality healthcare anywhere through telehealth, and the papers collected here are those in keeping with this theme. They are also deemed to have a lasting value and capture the international diversity and variations of scope in contemporary telehealth developments. The contributions in this book cover a broad spectrum, ranging from 'work in progress' laboratory studies to successfully established clinical services, and will be of interest to all those concerned with improving the provision of healthcare worldwide"--Publisher's description
