- Gabriel Heatter. Allied troops are now in Rome. Hitler has ordered all German troops to abandon Rome. Kesselring has been ordered to declare Rome an open city. Britain will not accept a negotiated peace only an unconditional surrender. United States and Canadian troops under General Clark moved into Rome. Then the British 8th Army moved in. The battle of Rome is over. There's a new concentration camp in Bulgaria. The United States and it's allies must reject fascism, nazism, and communism
- The Jergens Journal. [Recording already in progress.] Hitler has starved 15% (approximately 800,000) of the Greek population. John P. Crane, vice president of the Uniformed Firefighters Association, wrote a letter criticizing Mayor La Guardia of New York City. As punishment, Fire Commissioner Walsh of New York City transfered Crane to a fire station far away from his home. The correspondent feels this infringes on John Crane's right to free speech. Saint Louis University has created a job paying $0.40 per hour doing research work that shut-ins and wounded war veterans can do from their homes by listening to radio stations and making reports. Apply to Father Dempsey at Saint Louis University. [Recording ends.]
